Pick ‘Em Game
The Pick ‘Em Game is just for fun: there are no prizes or another else of value. (However, this may change for future seasons.) It is open to anyone and everyone who wants to play. You must have a free account here at Colorado Prep Football (“CPF”) and have a browser capable of using JavaScript. Simply login, and go the the entry page. Click on the game dates you want to enter picks for. Highlighted dates in Yellow show you have existing picks for that date.
All games in the 2010 season that involve a Colorado High School team are eligible for the game. This will therefore include games that are not a Colorado High School team, but will not include games where two non-Colorado High Schools compete. Some games may not be available for picking prior to the game time (Florida games for example) and therefore will simply be passed over. Other games, such as playoff and cross-conference final-week games that occur in 2A and 6-man will not be known until later in the season and therefore cannot be picked until then. The games will be entered into the database once known, and immediately available for picking. In any case, the failure of the CPF staff to make these games available for picking prior to their game dates will simply not make these games available for picking. You should not expect any game to be available for picking, especially due to changes, or late season decisions.
Each correct pick is worth 1 point. Each incorrect pick is worth -1 point. Not picking a game will not count against you but won’t help you. You may withdraw a pick at anytime before games are locked with no penalty. All games at all levels are worth the same value for the regular season. Playoff games may be given a higher point value, but will operate in the same manor (correct picks gives you points, incorrect takes points, no pick is worth nothing). This shall be up to the CPF staff and can vary by week during the playoffs (Championship games may be worth 5, semi-finals worth 4, etc.).
Picks can be made anytime but must be made the day before the game date as scheduled in our system (“Games Locked”). For example, a game scheduled for September 3, must have picks entered by 11:59pm, Mountain Time, September 2. Games that change times but remain on the same day will remain eligible. Games that change dates to a later date, shall not be affected. If the new, later date is entered into the system, and the game is not locked, users may elect to change or withdraw a pick, but previous pick information will remain unless otherwise changed. If a game is moved up in days where it would be possible for someone to cheat, the game may be discounted by the CPF staff at their discretion and all points earned or lost may be discarded. For example, a game is originally scheduled for October 4th. It is moved to October 2nd, but not updated in the CPF system until the 4th. The result would be known, and users could pick the game on the 2nd knowing the actual result since the game wouldn’t be locked until 11:59pm, October 3rd.
Results are immediately available once game results are entered into the system on the results page. Individual user picks of other users can be seen once those games are locked (i.e., today or earlier season games). Game favorites can be seen once the games are locked (again, today or earlier season games). Therefore, on Fridays, for example, you should come see how everyone picked that nights games.
Each user shall only use one account to make picks. Someone may use multiple accounts for other purposes, but must publicly declare that purpose. A good example would be to have a computer system make picks and use a second account to enter that information separate from your own. Someone could enter the computer rankings by Massey or Erik Packard’s as a second account. The site staff can maintain several account for similar purposes (picking all home games, all away games, favorites) and other purposes. All second (and greater) accounts shall never be eligible to win a prize.
The 2010 season shall be considered a Live and Open Beta Test of the software. Please help improve the system by reporting possible cheating methods or errors encountered and any suggestions for improvement.
Good luck and have fun!
